Fully Automatic Touch Screen Rockwell Hardness Tester

RASN-TSFA

RASN-TSFA
Introduction

RASN-TSFA

Top-of-the-range Rockwell tester: the test force is selected automatically from the capacitive touch screen and the load, dwell and unload cycle runs motorised, so the operator only chooses the scale and presses start. Results in 0.1 Rockwell units with limits judgement, built-in thermal printer, USB CSV export and PC software.

The RASN-TSFA is the top of the Eklavya Techno Solutions Rockwell range, manufactured in Ichalkaranji, India. It is the only ETS Rockwell tester on which the test force is selected automatically: the operator chooses the scale on the capacitive touch screen, and the machine sets the 60, 100 or 150 kgf major load itself, applies the 10 kgf minor load as the specimen is raised to the set position shown on a progress bar, then runs the load, dwell and unload cycle by motor. The hardness is displayed to 0.1 Rockwell units, judged against the higher and lower limits entered on the screen, stored with date and time, and printed on the built-in thermal printer or exported as CSV over USB.

Removing manual load selection removes the commonest source of wrong readings on a busy line, an operator forgetting to change the load with the scale. That makes the RASN-TSFA the right machine for multi-scale inspection and for lines run by operators of mixed experience. It covers scales HRA to HRK, has 295 mm test height and 148 mm throat depth, runs on single-phase 230 V and complies with IS 1586 (Part 2), ASTM E18 and ISO 6508-2. Flat and V-groove tables, diamond and 1/16 inch ball indenters and certified Rockwell C and B test blocks are supplied.

  • Fully automatic: test force is selected automatically from the touch screen, followed by a motorised load, dwell and unload cycle
  • High-precision capacitive touch-screen display with readings in 0.1 Rockwell (and 0.1 Rockwell Superficial on Twin models)
  • Scale, higher and lower limits and dwell time are set through the capacitive touch screen; set position shown with a progress bar
  • Versatile testing capability: a wide range of materials and scales with consistent results
  • Data storage and connectivity: date, time, hardness value and scale stored securely and exported as CSV via USB
  • Built-in thermal printer plus PC software for reports
  • Elevating screw with telescopic protection sleeves; spare fuse, power cable, clamping device and cover supplied
  • Optional 5 mm step inserts and jack rest for long and heavy jobs

Operation

How the test runs

  1. Select the scale on the touch screen; the machine sets the test force automatically.
  2. Raise the specimen to the indenter until the progress bar shows the set position.
  3. Touch START; loading, dwell and unloading run automatically.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about RASN-TSFA

What does fully automatic mean on the RASN-TSFA?

On other ETS Rockwell testers the operator selects the major load by hand. On the TSFA the operator only selects the scale on the touch screen; the machine sets the correct 60, 100 or 150 kgf test force itself, shows the set position with a progress bar as the specimen is raised, and then runs the load, dwell and unload cycle by motor. The operator fits the indenter and presses START.

Which scales and parts does it cover?

All nine regular Rockwell scales HRA to HRK, with HRC on the supplied diamond indenter for hardened and tempered steel, dies and tool steel and HRB on the supplied 1/16 inch ball for softer steels and non-ferrous alloys. The 295 mm test height and 148 mm throat depth take shafts, gears, bearing parts, forgings and castings of substantial size.

How does it differ from the RSNE-T touch-screen tester?

The RSNE-T has a touch screen and a motorised cycle but the major load is still selected by hand and it exports over USB only. The RASN-TSFA adds automatic test-force selection, a progress bar for the set position and a built-in thermal printer, alongside USB CSV export and PC software. The TSFA is the choice when many scales are used on one machine.

What outputs and judgement does it provide?

Readings to 0.1 Rockwell are judged against the higher and lower limits set on the screen and stored with date, time, value and scale. Results are printed on the built-in thermal printer, exported as CSV files over USB for Excel, or handled in the ETS PC software for batch reports, giving full traceability for audits.

Which standards does the RASN-TSFA comply with?

It is built and verified to IS 1586 (Part 2), ASTM E18 and ISO 6508-2. Certified Rockwell C and Rockwell B test blocks are supplied for verification at installation and routine checks. ETS installs and commissions the machine on site, trains operators and offers calibration with traceable certificates and AMC anywhere in India.

Are there superficial or Brinell versions of the TSFA?

Yes. The RASNT-TSFA adds the 15, 30 and 45 kgf superficial loads and 3 kgf minor load for case-hardened and thin parts, and the RASNB-TSFA adds 187.5 and 250 kgf loads with a 2.5 mm ball and microscope for Brinell testing of castings and forgings. Both keep the automatic test-force selection and motorised cycle of the RASN-TSFA.
