Touch Screen Rockwell Hardness Tester

RSNE-T

RSNE-T
Introduction

RSNE-T

Motorised Rockwell tester operated from a capacitive touch screen: scale, dwell time and limits are set on screen, the load, dwell and unload cycle runs automatically and every result is logged with date and time for CSV export over USB or PC software.

The RSNE-T is the touch-screen Rockwell hardness tester from Eklavya Techno Solutions, Ichalkaranji, India. It replaces the keypad of the motorised RSNE with a capacitive touch screen on which the operator picks the scale, dwell time and high/low limits directly, then fits the matching indenter and selects the 60, 100 or 150 kgf major load by hand. After the specimen is raised until the SET indication confirms the 10 kgf minor load, a touch on START runs the load, dwell and unload cycle by motor and the hardness appears to 0.1 Rockwell units. Every test is logged with date, time, value and scale and can be exported as CSV over USB or managed in the PC software.

The touch interface means fewer keystrokes per test, clearer prompts for new operators and settings that change in seconds when a line switches from HRC to HRB work. The RSNE-T covers the nine regular scales HRA to HRK, offers 290 mm test height and 148 mm throat depth and runs on single-phase 230 V. It complies with IS 1586 (Part 2), ASTM E18 and ISO 6508-2 and ships with flat and V-groove tables, diamond and 1/16 inch ball indenters and certified Rockwell C and B test blocks.

Operation

How the test runs

  1. Choose the scale, dwell time and limits on the touch screen and fit the matching indenter.
  2. Raise the specimen to the indenter until the SET indication appears.
  3. Touch START; the machine applies the load, dwells and unloads automatically.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about RSNE-T

What is the difference between the RSNE-T and the RSNE?

Both are motorised testers with an automatic load, dwell and unload cycle and 0.1 Rockwell resolution. The RSNE uses a keypad and has a built-in thermal printer; the RSNE-T uses a capacitive touch screen for scale, dwell and limit settings and exports results over USB or to the PC software. The major load is selected by hand on both machines.

Does the touch screen select the test force automatically?

No. On the RSNE-T the scale, dwell time and limits are set on the touch screen, but the 60, 100 or 150 kgf major load is still selected by hand before the motorised cycle runs. Fully automatic test-force selection from the screen is the feature of the RASN-TSFA series, which also adds a built-in thermal printer.

Which scales and components can it test?

The nine regular Rockwell scales HRA to HRK: HRC with the supplied diamond indenter on hardened and tempered steel, dies and tool steel, and HRB with the supplied 1/16 inch ball on softer steels, brass, bronze and aluminium. The 290 mm test height and 148 mm throat accept shafts, gears, forgings, castings and machined parts of substantial size.

How are results stored and exported?

Each test is logged with date, time, hardness value and scale in the machine memory. Readings are exported as CSV files over USB, which open directly in Excel, or transferred to the ETS PC software for reporting and data management. High and low limits entered on the screen flag out-of-tolerance readings as they happen. Ask ETS if you need a printer on this model.

Which standards does the RSNE-T comply with?

The RSNE-T is built and verified to IS 1586 (Part 2), ASTM E18 and ISO 6508-2. Certified Rockwell C and Rockwell B test blocks are supplied for verification at installation and routine daily checks, and ETS provides on-site installation, operator training, calibration with traceable certificates and AMC support anywhere in India.
