RASNB-TSFA
Introduction

RASNB-TSFA

Fully automatic touch-screen Rockwell tester with loads up to 250 kgf for Brinell testing with a 2.5 mm ball. Automatic test-force selection and motorised cycle for the Rockwell scales; Brinell impressions are measured with the supplied microscope. Thermal printer, USB CSV export and PC software included.

The RASNB-TSFA is the fully automatic touch-screen Rockwell cum Brinell hardness tester built by Eklavya Techno Solutions in Ichalkaranji, India. For the regular Rockwell scales A to K the operator simply selects the scale on the capacitive touch screen; the machine sets the 60, 100 or 150 kgf test force automatically, shows the set position on a progress bar while the specimen is raised, runs the load, dwell and unload cycle by motor and displays the hardness to 0.1 Rockwell units with a judgement against the entered limits. For Brinell testing the 187.5 and 250 kgf loads are used with the supplied 2.5 mm ball for scales HBW 2.5/187.5 and HBW 2.5/250, and the impression is measured with the supplied Brinell microscope.

The machine suits foundries, forges and component plants that check hardened parts by Rockwell and castings or annealed stock by Brinell on one bench. Results are stored with date and time, printed on the built-in thermal printer or exported as CSV over USB. The RASNB-TSFA has 295 mm test height, 148 mm throat depth, runs on single-phase 230 V and complies with IS 1586 (Part 2), ASTM E18, ISO 6508-2 and IS 1500 (Part 2). Rockwell C, Rockwell B and HBW 2.5/187.5 test blocks are included.

  • Fully automatic: test force is selected automatically from the touch screen, followed by a motorised load, dwell and unload cycle
  • High-precision capacitive touch-screen display with readings in 0.1 Rockwell (and 0.1 Rockwell Superficial on Twin models)
  • Scale, higher and lower limits and dwell time are set through the capacitive touch screen; set position shown with a progress bar
  • Versatile testing capability: a wide range of materials and scales with consistent results
  • Data storage and connectivity: date, time, hardness value and scale stored securely and exported as CSV via USB
  • Built-in thermal printer plus PC software for reports
  • Elevating screw with telescopic protection sleeves; spare fuse, power cable, clamping device and cover supplied
  • Optional 5 mm step inserts and jack rest for long and heavy jobs
  • Brinell scales HBW 2.5/187.5 and HBW 2.5/250 with the supplied 2.5 mm ball indenter and Brinell microscope

Operation

How the test runs

  1. Select the scale on the touch screen; the machine sets the test force automatically.
  2. Raise the specimen to the indenter until the progress bar shows the set position.
  3. Touch START; loading, dwell and unloading run automatically.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about RASNB-TSFA

Is the Brinell test also fully automatic on this machine?

The load, dwell and unload cycle is motorised for Brinell as for Rockwell, but the Brinell result is not read from the screen: the operator measures the impression diameter with the supplied Brinell microscope and reads HBW from the standard tables. Automatic test-force selection applies to the Rockwell scales; the 187.5 and 250 kgf Brinell loads are selected with the matching ball indenter.

Which materials would I test by Brinell rather than Rockwell?

Grey and ductile iron castings, forgings, annealed or normalised steel and thick non-ferrous sections, where a coarse structure or low hardness makes the Rockwell diamond unsuitable. HBW 2.5/187.5 has the same force-to-ball ratio as HBW 10/3000, so results compare directly with Brinell values on material certificates and drawings.

How does it differ from the RSNE-250-T and RSNE-250?

All three share the 60 to 250 kgf load range, motorised cycle and microscope-measured Brinell. The RSNE-250 has a keypad and thermal printer; the RSNE-250-T has a touch screen with USB export; on both the load is selected by hand. The RASNB-TSFA selects the Rockwell test force automatically from the touch screen and includes both the thermal printer and USB export.

What records and outputs are available?

Rockwell readings to 0.1 units are judged against the limits set on the screen and stored with date, time, value and scale. They can be printed on the built-in thermal printer, exported as CSV over USB for Excel or handled in the ETS PC software. Brinell values measured with the microscope are recorded by the operator.

Which standards and test blocks apply?

The Rockwell function is verified to IS 1586 (Part 2), ASTM E18 and ISO 6508-2 and the Brinell function to IS 1500 (Part 2). Certified Rockwell C, Rockwell B and HBW 2.5/187.5 test blocks are supplied so every scale can be checked at installation and routinely. ETS provides installation, training, calibration with traceable certificates and AMC across India.
