RASNT-TSFA
Introduction

RASNT-TSFA

Fully automatic twin-range tester: regular Rockwell and superficial N/T scales with automatic test-force selection from the touch screen, motorised cycle and 0.1 Rockwell / 0.1 Superficial resolution. Thermal printer, USB CSV export and PC software included.

The RASNT-TSFA is the fully automatic twin-range Rockwell tester from Eklavya Techno Solutions, Ichalkaranji, India. It combines the regular Rockwell scales A to K, using 60, 100 and 150 kgf loads with a 10 kgf minor load, and the superficial 15N, 30N, 45N, 15T, 30T and 45T scales, using 15, 30 and 45 kgf loads with a 3 kgf minor load, in a machine that selects the test force automatically once the scale is chosen on the touch screen. A progress bar shows the set position, the load, dwell and unload cycle runs by motor, and the result appears to 0.1 Rockwell or 0.1 superficial units with a judgement against the entered limits.

With fifteen scales in play, automatic force selection removes the risk of testing with the wrong load when a line switches from HRC checks on through-hardened parts to HR 30 N checks on case-hardened gears or thin strip. Results are stored with date and time, printed on the built-in thermal printer or exported as CSV over USB. The machine has 295 mm test height and 148 mm throat depth, complies with IS 1586 (Part 2), ASTM E18 and ISO 6508-2, and ships with RA and SF diamond indenters, a 1/16 inch ball and Rockwell C, Rockwell B and HR 30 N test blocks.

  • Fully automatic: test force is selected automatically from the touch screen, followed by a motorised load, dwell and unload cycle
  • High-precision capacitive touch-screen display with readings in 0.1 Rockwell (and 0.1 Rockwell Superficial on Twin models)
  • Scale, higher and lower limits and dwell time are set through the capacitive touch screen; set position shown with a progress bar
  • Versatile testing capability: a wide range of materials and scales with consistent results
  • Data storage and connectivity: date, time, hardness value and scale stored securely and exported as CSV via USB
  • Built-in thermal printer plus PC software for reports
  • Elevating screw with telescopic protection sleeves; spare fuse, power cable, clamping device and cover supplied
  • Optional 5 mm step inserts and jack rest for long and heavy jobs
  • Superficial diamond indenter (Rockwell SF) and HR 30 N test block supplied for the N scales

Operation

How the test runs

  1. Select the scale on the touch screen; the machine sets the test force automatically.
  2. Raise the specimen to the indenter until the progress bar shows the set position.
  3. Touch START; loading, dwell and unloading run automatically.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about RASNT-TSFA

Why combine automatic force selection with superficial scales?

Because twin-range work involves switching between six superficial and nine regular scales, each with its own load, and a wrong load is the commonest cause of a bad reading. On the RASNT-TSFA the operator selects the scale on the touch screen and the machine sets 15, 30, 45, 60, 100 or 150 kgf itself, so an HR 30 N check on a case-hardened gear cannot be run at 150 kgf by mistake.

Which parts benefit from the superficial scales?

Carburised, induction-hardened and nitrided gears, shafts and pins, thin sheet and strip, springs, small fasteners and plated components. The light superficial loads with the 3 kgf minor load keep the impression within the hard case or the thin section; the N scales use the diamond SF indenter and the T scales the 1/16 inch ball, both supplied.

How does it compare with the RSNE-Twin-T and RSNE-Twin?

All three are motorised twin-range testers. The RSNE-Twin uses a keypad and a thermal printer; the RSNE-Twin-T uses a touch screen with USB export; on both the major load is selected by hand. The RASNT-TSFA selects the test force automatically from the touch screen and has both the thermal printer and USB CSV export.

What resolution and records does it provide?

Readings to 0.1 Rockwell on the regular scales and 0.1 superficial Rockwell on the N and T scales, judged against higher and lower limits set on the screen. Each result is stored with date, time, value and scale and can be printed on the built-in thermal printer, exported as CSV over USB or managed in the ETS PC software.

Which standards does the RASNT-TSFA comply with?

The machine is built and verified to IS 1586 (Part 2), ASTM E18 and ISO 6508-2, which cover regular and superficial Rockwell testing. Certified Rockwell C, Rockwell B and HR 30 N test blocks are supplied for verification at installation and routine checks, and ETS offers calibration with traceable certificates across India.
