Introduction

ETS-TNE-5T

Microcontroller-based, servo-driven electro-mechanical universal testing machine of 50 kN (5 t) frame capacity for metals, polymers, composites, textiles, rubber and more. The AC servo ball-screw drive gives smooth, backlash-free motion from 1 to 500 mm/min, and interchangeable, auto-detected load cells from 500 N to 50 kN cover sheets, plastics, rods and medium fasteners.

The ETS-TNE-5T is the 50 kN (5 t) frame of the electro-mechanical ETS-TNE universal testing machine series from Eklavya Techno Solutions, Ichalkaranji, India, a twin-column machine driven by an AC servo motor through a precision ball screw for smooth, backlash-free crosshead motion from 1 to 500 mm/min. Interchangeable strain-gauge load cells from 500 N to 50 kN are detected automatically and read out directly in N or kN on the M-2301 microprocessor panel, so the machine covers plastics, composites, sheet metal, rods and medium fasteners without changing anything but the cell and the grips.

At 50 kN the TNE-5T is the general-purpose laboratory machine of the series: strong enough for machined steel and aluminium tensile specimens, welded coupons, sheet-metal samples, composite laminates and bolts up to medium sizes, yet accurate enough with the smaller cells for plastics and textiles. Wedge, vice and threaded grips, compression plates, bending fixtures and shear attachments are available, with the optional EE2 extensometer at 1 micrometre resolution for modulus and yield determination. Results print directly or pass over USB and RS232C to optional Windows software for curve plotting and evaluation; overload protection and limit switches are standard. It runs on single-phase 230 V and complies with IS 1828 (Part 1), ASTM E4, ISO 7500-1, ASTM E8 and ISO 6892.

Operation

How the test runs

  1. Fit the load cell (auto-detected) and the grips or fixture for the test.
  2. Enter speed, specimen dimensions and test parameters on the panel or in the PC software.
  3. Start the test; the servo drive moves the crosshead at the set speed while load and extension are recorded.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about ETS-TNE-5T

What can I test on a 50 kN electro-mechanical machine?

Machined round and flat tensile specimens of mild and alloy steel, aluminium and copper alloys up to about 50 kN breaking force, sheet-metal samples, welded coupons, composite laminates, plastics, rods and medium fasteners. With the 500 N to 5 kN cells fitted it also handles textiles, rubber, films and wire at full accuracy, which a hydraulic machine of this size cannot.

Which load cells come with the TNE-5T?

Auto-detected cells of 500 N, 1 kN, 2.5 kN, 5 kN, 10 kN, 25 kN and 50 kN, others on request. Fit the cell whose range suits the specimen, the panel recognises it and configures itself, and the reading is shown directly in N or kN. Keeping the expected force in the upper part of a cell range gives the best accuracy.

How does it compare with the hydraulic UTE 10?

Both reach the tensile forces of small metal specimens, but the UTE 10 is a 100 kN hydraulic machine on three-phase power with 0.1 mm displacement resolution and 2 N load steps, suited to bars, castings and compression work. The TNE-5T is a 50 kN servo ball-screw machine on single-phase power with precise 1 to 500 mm/min speed control and interchangeable cells for accurate low-force work.

Can it measure strain, yield and modulus?

Yes. The optional EE2 electronic extensometer, a strain-gauge type with 1 micrometre resolution, measures specimen strain directly. The M-2301 panel or the Windows software then computes modulus, yield, peak load, rupture percentage and elongation, prints results, graphs and batch certificates, and superimposes curves for comparison.

Which standards apply and how is it installed?

The load-measuring system is verified to IS 1828 (Part 1), ASTM E4 and ISO 7500-1, and tensile tests are run to ASTM E8 and ISO 6892 or the relevant IS methods. ETS installs and verifies the machine on site anywhere in India. Confirm the frame capacity and load-cell range for your application with ETS when ordering.
