Automatic Digital Rockwell Hardness Tester

RSNE

RSNE
Introduction

RSNE

Motorised digital Rockwell tester (also badged RASNE) with a fully automatic load, dwell and unload cycle, 0.1 Rockwell resolution and High / Good / Low judgement against set limits. Results are stored with date and time, printed on the built-in thermal printer or exported as CSV over USB, making it the production-line choice of the range.

The RSNE, also badged RASNE, is the motorised digital Rockwell hardness tester that Eklavya Techno Solutions builds in Ichalkaranji, India for production testing. The operator sets the scale, dwell time, high and low limits and auto or manual start on the front panel, raises the specimen until the SET indication shows the 10 kgf minor load, and presses START. The machine applies the 60, 100 or 150 kgf major load by motor, holds the dwell and unloads, then displays the hardness to 0.1 Rockwell units with a High, Good or Low judgement. Removing the hand lever from the cycle removes operator influence on loading rate and dwell, which is what makes readings on a production line consistent from shift to shift.

The RSNE frame is taller than the bench RASN models, with 295 mm test height and 148 mm throat depth. Results are stored with date, time and scale and can be printed on the built-in thermal printer, exported as CSV over USB or reported through the PC software. It covers the regular scales HRA to HRK, complies with IS 1586 (Part 2), ASTM E18 and ISO 6508-2, and is supplied with flat and V-groove tables, diamond and 1/16 inch ball indenters and certified Rockwell C and B test blocks.

Operation

How the test runs

  1. Set the scale, dwell time, high/low limits and auto/manual start from the front panel.
  2. Raise the specimen to the indenter until the SET indication appears.
  3. Press START; the motorised cycle applies the major load, dwells and unloads automatically.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about RSNE

What does the motorised cycle change compared with the RASN-D?

On the RASN-D the operator applies the major load with a lever; on the RSNE the load, dwell and unload run by motor at the press of START. That removes variation in loading speed and dwell between operators, speeds up repetitive testing and lets one person test while the machine cycles. Panel functions, 0.1 Rockwell resolution, printer, USB export and PC software are the same.

Which scales and parts does the RSNE handle?

All regular Rockwell scales HRA to HRK with 60, 100 and 150 kgf major loads and a 10 kgf minor load. With 295 mm test height and 148 mm throat depth it takes larger parts than the 230 mm RASN family, so heat-treated shafts, gears, dies, bearing components, forgings and machined castings up to that size can be tested without sectioning.

Does the machine judge results automatically?

Yes. Once high and low limits are entered for the batch, every reading is displayed with a High, Good or Low indication, so an operator on a production line does not need to interpret numbers. The judgement is stored with the result and appears on the printed ticket and in the CSV export.

What are the RSNE-250 and RSNE-Twin?

They are the same motorised tester with a wider load range. The RSNE-250 adds 187.5 and 250 kgf loads with a 2.5 mm ball and microscope for Brinell testing of castings and forgings. The RSNE-Twin adds 15, 30 and 45 kgf loads and a 3 kgf minor load for the superficial N and T scales on case-hardened and thin parts. The RSNE itself is regular Rockwell only.

Which standards does it comply with and how is it verified?

The RSNE is built and verified to IS 1586 (Part 2), ASTM E18 and ISO 6508-2. Certified Rockwell C and Rockwell B test blocks are supplied for verification at installation and daily checks. ETS installs and commissions the machine on site anywhere in India and offers calibration with traceable certificates, operator training and AMC.

What power supply and accessories are included?

The RSNE runs on single-phase 230 V AC, 50 Hz with a 1 A fuse; a spare fuse and power cable are included. Also supplied are the 50 mm flat and 38 mm V-groove tables, diamond RA and 1/16 inch ball indenters, test blocks, telescopic screw sleeves, clamping device, cover and thermal printer. Step inserts, a jack rest and the PC software are optional.
