Digital Rockwell cum Brinell Hardness Tester

RASN-250-D

RASN-250-D
Introduction

RASN-250-D

Digital Rockwell tester with the load range extended to 187.5 and 250 kgf for Brinell testing with a 2.5 mm ball. Rockwell results read to 0.1 unit on the digital panel; Brinell impressions are measured with the supplied microscope.

The RASN-250-D from Eklavya Techno Solutions, Ichalkaranji, India, is the digital Rockwell cum Brinell tester for shops that test hardened steel parts and softer castings or forgings on the same machine and want the results recorded electronically. Its load range runs from 60 kgf up to 250 kgf: the 60, 100 and 150 kgf loads serve the regular Rockwell scales A to K, which are read on the digital panel to 0.1 Rockwell units, while the 187.5 and 250 kgf loads are used with the supplied 2.5 mm ball for Brinell scales HBW 2.5/187.5 and HBW 2.5/250.

The Rockwell side works like the RASN-D: set scale, dwell and limits on the panel, apply the load by hand, and the result is displayed, judged, stored with date and time and printed on the built-in thermal printer or exported as CSV over USB. The Brinell side is optical: after the indentation the operator measures the impression diameter with the supplied Brinell microscope and reads the hardness from the tables, because the panel has no Brinell scale. The machine has 230 mm test height, 133 mm throat depth, runs on single-phase 230 V and complies with IS 1586 (Part 2), ASTM E18, ISO 6508-2 and IS 1500 (Part 2).

  • High-precision digital display: digital Rockwell scale with clear readability and hardness readings in 0.1 Rockwell units
  • User-friendly interface: the digital panel makes navigation and operation simple; dwell time, load application and test limits are easily adjustable
  • Versatile testing capability: accommodates a wide range of materials and scales with consistent results
  • Manual load selection and hand-operated test cycle for durability and full operator control
  • Data storage and connectivity: date, time, hardness value and scale are stored securely and exported as CSV via USB
  • Reporting facility with PC software and built-in thermal printer
  • Elevating screw with telescopic protection sleeves; clamping device and machine cover supplied
  • Optional 5 mm step inserts and jack rest for long and heavy jobs
  • Brinell scales HBW 2.5/187.5 and HBW 2.5/250 with the supplied 2.5 mm ball indenter and Brinell microscope

Operation

How the test runs

  1. Select the scale, dwell time and high/low limits on the digital panel.
  2. Raise the specimen to the indenter until the SET indication appears (minor load applied).
  3. Apply the major load with the lever; the panel times the dwell and prompts for unloading.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about RASN-250-D

Does the digital display show Brinell hardness directly?

No. The digital panel reads the regular Rockwell scales to 0.1 units. For Brinell the 187.5 or 250 kgf load is selected by hand with the 2.5 mm ball indenter, the impression diameter is measured with the supplied Brinell microscope and the HBW value is read from the standard tables. If you need automatic Brinell measurement, look at the camera-based B3000 or LB3000 machines.

Which materials are the HBW 2.5/187.5 and 2.5/250 scales meant for?

HBW 2.5/187.5 uses the same force-to-ball ratio as HBW 10/3000, so it gives comparable numbers on steels, cast irons and forgings with a smaller impression that fits on a bench tester. These scales are the usual choice for grey and ductile iron castings, annealed or normalised steel and thick non-ferrous stock where a Rockwell diamond is unsuitable.

How does the RASN-250-D compare with the RASN-D and the RASNB?

The RASN-D is the same digital tester without the 187.5 and 250 kgf loads, ball indenter and microscope. The RASNB has the same Rockwell cum Brinell load range but reads on a dial to 1 Rockwell unit with no storage or printing. The RASN-250-D combines both: full 60 to 250 kgf range, 0.1 Rockwell resolution, thermal printer, USB CSV export and PC software.

What connectivity and record keeping does it offer?

Each Rockwell result is stored with date, time, hardness value and scale. Records can be printed on the built-in thermal printer, exported as CSV files over USB for Excel, or transferred to the ETS PC software for reports. High and low limits set on the panel flag out-of-tolerance readings immediately.

Which standards and test blocks apply?

The Rockwell function is verified to IS 1586 (Part 2), ASTM E18 and ISO 6508-2 and the Brinell function to IS 1500 (Part 2). Certified Rockwell C, Rockwell B and HBW 2.5/187.5 test blocks are supplied, so every scale can be checked at installation and during routine use. ETS also offers calibration with traceable certificates across India.
