Digital Rockwell Hardness Tester

RASN-D
Introduction

RASN-D

Digital Rockwell tester with 0.1 Rockwell resolution, adjustable dwell time and test limits, USB export of results as CSV, PC software and built-in thermal printer. Manual load selection and hand-operated loading keep the machine simple and durable for shop-floor use.

The RASN-D is the digital Rockwell hardness tester in the Eklavya Techno Solutions range, built in Ichalkaranji, India for quality departments that need documented, 0.1 Rockwell resolution results but prefer the simplicity of a hand-operated load cycle. The operator selects the scale, dwell time and high/low limits on the digital panel, raises the specimen until the SET indication confirms the 10 kgf minor load, and applies the 60, 100 or 150 kgf major load with the lever. The panel times the dwell, prompts for unloading and displays the hardness, then stores it with date, time and scale.

Because the loading is manual and the load selection is mechanical, there are fewer parts to wear or fail than on a motorised machine, and the tester runs from a single-phase 230 V supply through a 1 A fuse. Results are exported as CSV files over USB, printed on the built-in thermal printer, or handled in the supplied PC software for reports. The RASN-D covers scales HRA to HRK, offers 230 mm test height and 133 mm throat depth, and is delivered with flat and V-groove tables, diamond and 1/16 inch ball indenters and certified Rockwell C and B test blocks.

  • High-precision digital display: digital Rockwell scale with clear readability and hardness readings in 0.1 Rockwell units
  • User-friendly interface: the digital panel makes navigation and operation simple; dwell time, load application and test limits are easily adjustable

  • Manual load selection and hand-operated test cycle for durability and full operator control
  • Data storage and connectivity: date, time, hardness value and scale are stored securely and exported as CSV via USB
  • Reporting facility with PC software and built-in thermal printer
  • Elevating screw with telescopic protection sleeves; clamping device and machine cover supplied
  • Optional 5 mm step inserts and jack rest for long and heavy jobs

Operation

How the test runs

  1. Select the scale, dwell time and high/low limits on the digital panel.
  2. Raise the specimen to the indenter until the SET indication appears (minor load applied).
  3. Apply the major load with the lever; the panel times the dwell and prompts for unloading.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about RASN-D

What does the digital panel add over the RASN dial tester?

Resolution improves from 1 to 0.1 Rockwell units, dwell time is timed by the panel rather than by the operator, and high/low limits can be set so each reading is judged automatically. Every result is stored with date, time and scale and can be printed on the built-in thermal printer, exported as CSV over USB or collected in the PC software, which a dial machine cannot do.

Is the loading still manual on the RASN-D?

Yes. The major load is selected by hand and applied with the loading lever exactly as on the dial machine; only the measurement, timing and record keeping are electronic. If you want the load, dwell and unload cycle to run by motor at the press of a key, the RSNE motorised model uses the same panel functions with an automatic cycle.

Which scales and materials does it cover?

All nine regular Rockwell scales HRA to HRK with 60, 100 and 150 kgf major loads and a 10 kgf minor load. In practice that means HRC on hardened and tempered steels, dies and tool steel using the supplied diamond indenter, and HRB on softer steels, brass, bronze and aluminium using the supplied 1/16 inch ball. Parts up to 230 mm high and 133 mm deep fit under the indenter.

How do I get results out of the machine?

Three ways: print a ticket on the built-in thermal printer, plug in a USB drive and export the stored readings as a CSV file that opens directly in Excel, or connect the tester to a computer and use the ETS PC software for reports. Date, time, hardness value and scale are recorded for every test.

Which standards does the RASN-D comply with?

The RASN-D is built and verified to IS 1586 (Part 2), ASTM E18 and ISO 6508-2. It is supplied with certified Rockwell C and Rockwell B test blocks for verification at installation and daily checks; ETS provides calibration with traceable certificates and annual maintenance contracts across India.

What power supply does it need and what is supplied?

A single-phase 230 V AC, 50 Hz supply protected by a 1 A fuse is sufficient. The machine comes with a 50 mm flat table, a 38 mm V-groove table for 6 to 45 mm rounds, diamond RA and 1/16 inch ball indenters, Rockwell C and B test blocks, telescopic screw sleeves, clamping device, cover and the thermal printer. Step inserts and a jack rest are optional.
